Scott Shimotsu, married to Kassy
Scott Shimotsu is a Yonsei (pronounced Yo-oon-say-ee) or 4th generation Japanese American who grew up in Los Angeles, CA. His love for peoples and cultures was borne out of his L.A. roots. Currently, he is a research scientist at Savvysherpa Inc. and is involved in solving U.S. health care’s biggest challenges. Kassy is a 5th generation Swedish/German American, raised in a small farming community outside of the Twin Cities. She currently works as a custom renovations builder and real estate agent in Minneapolis.
Scott and Kassy met swing dancing, were married in 2009, and now live in Southwest Minneapolis. Scott spent a summer in Juarez, Mexico and a year in Tottori, Japan to learn how to share the great news of Christ in Spanish and Japanese, respectively. Kassy thanks the Lord for showing her the beauty of the nations, through her travels and through people God has placed in her life. Together as a couple, they enjoy engaging peoples of many cultures through the teaching of the Word of God and through one-on-one relationships. They have co-labored with the All Nations Fellowship ministry at Bethlehem Baptist Church during 2008-2011. Scott and Kassy felt called to plant New City of Nations because of their love for peoples of all cultures, an ongoing partnership with the church plant families, a strong desire for an intimate, tight-knit community as well as a love for city living! |
