New City of Nations Church: A Brief Decade-Plus History

The roots for New City of Nations Church were formed in the All Nations Fellowship Sunday class held at Bethlehem Baptist Church (Minneapolis) back in 2003. The class welcomed international students, scholars, and immigrants to fellowship around the Word of God with one another and with local believers. From the beginning, we were blessed with a dedicated team of volunteers and families, representing a beautiful diversity of ethnic backgrounds, and we learned richly from one another. The fellowship was meant to reflect Revelation 7:9:

"After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from
every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb."

As the group outgrew the small Sunday classroom, Bethlehem's missions pastor Erik Hyatt and a few leaders from the All Nations Fellowship were led to plant a new congregation. In 2012, New City of Nations Church (NCNC) launched at Seward Montessori School in Minneapolis. Our vision was and still is to be a multi-ethnic congregation that advances the reign of Christ among all peoples through a redeemed community of all peoples.

Since then, by God's grace, the church has maintained its multi-ethnic character with members from different social and cultural backgrounds, celebrating our differences as unique reflections of God's image. In addition, NCNC continues to be a sending church, currently partnering with and supporting multiple global partners in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Like many church plants, we've experienced seasons of change and faced challenges over the years. Yet through it all, God’s grace has remained constant — drawing us nearer to Him, teaching us to depend on Him daily, and getting us to where we are today. After over a decade, many of the NCNC founders are still active as leaders or members of the church, and we are currently led by co-pastors Randy and Terrance, alongside our elder team.

We have been at our current location on Skillman Avenue for 4 years now, meeting in the Community of Nations Church building, and what a gift it is that we can continue to experience the global family of God, right here in the heart of the Twin Cities.
